Detection methods for seamless tubes

A continuous tube with no spaces between its inner and outer surfaces is called a seamless tube or tubing. The petroleum, chemical, electric power, aviation, and other industries all make extensive use of it. In order to guarantee the safety of production and use, seamless tube quality standards and testing procedures are vital.

The quality inspection methods of seamless tubes mainly include chemical composition analysis, mechanical performance testing, appearance inspection, dimensional measurement, etc.

1. Analysis of chemical composition
An essential component of seamless tube quality testing is chemical composition analysis. It can ascertain whether seamless tubes’ chemical makeup satisfies accepted standards. The three main methods used to analyze chemical composition are chemical analysis, photoelectric colorimetry, and spectroscopy.

2. Evaluation of mechanical performance
Testing mechanical properties is a crucial step in determining seamless tube’s serviceability and load-bearing capacity. Items used for testing mechanical properties frequently include impact, tensile, hardness, and other tests. These tests can be used to assess whether seamless pipes’ yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, impact toughness, and other indicators meet the required standards.

3. Inspection of appearance
A crucial component of seamless tube quality inspection is appearance inspection. We are able to determine whether the quality of seamless pipes is qualified by looking for surface flaws such as bubbles, peeling, cracks, and holes.

4. Measurements
One of the most important steps in the seamless tube quality inspection process is measuring the tube’s dimensions. It primarily consists of measuring the length, wall thickness, outer diameter, and other dimensions. Tools like an outer diameter measuring device, a wall thickness measuring device, and a length measuring device can be used to complete the measurement process.
