Urban drainage pipelines, specifically the use of spiral steel pipes in urban drainage systems, represent the comprehensive layout of urban water supply, drainage, and sewage treatment pipeline systems and their various components within a specific period. The overall balance of urban water pipeline planning is crucial, necessitating the optimization and combination of various feasible water-saving and water transmission schemes. Therefore, we must first understand urban water use plans, strengthen special water use plans within the overall urban plan, and develop urban water use plans in accordance with the concept of sustainable water development. The content should include: surface water, groundwater, rainwater, and seawater, resource balance, water supply, drainage, and sewage reuse; water supply and water conservation plans, as well as sewage treatment and recycling plans; water ecological cycle planning; and the scale and layout of various water supply and drainage pipeline engineering facilities.
Regarding the common problems of uncoordinated planning, mismatched construction, and inconsistent management in the construction of urban water supply and drainage pipeline systems in my country, special attention should be paid to the coordinated development of pipeline infrastructure and water supply and drainage. The planned treatment capacity and the scale of the internal water supply pipeline system and its network facilities within the planning period should be detailed in the layout and operation management plan.
The design of spiral steel pipes in drainage systems should meet the requirements of regional and urban master plans and fully consider the system’s scalability. The design should also consider the convenience of water system maintenance and repair, and the pipeline should be as short and efficient as possible.
Spiral steel pipes are made of strip steel or spirally wound steel pipes, with both internal and external joints welded by double-sided submerged arc welding. They are widely used in water, electricity, and chemical industries for the following reasons: various diameters of steel pipes can be produced with the same strip steel width simply by changing the forming angle, and they are easy to adjust.
Because they are formed through continuous zigzags, the length of spiral steel pipes is unlimited and can be set arbitrarily. The spiral weld shape is evenly distributed on the circumference of the spiral steel pipe, resulting in high dimensional accuracy and strength. They are easy to scale up, suitable for small-batch production, and various types of spiral steel pipes.
Generally, the weld seam of spiral steel pipes is longer than that of straight seam steel pipes of the same standard, and the pressure that spiral steel pipes can withstand under the same wall thickness is greater.
To meet the demands of modern production, the manufacturing time for spiral welded steel pipes has become shorter, and the manufacturing price has become lower, so spiral welded steel pipes have gradually replaced channel steel.
