Why do spiral welded steel pipes need X-RAY nondestructive testing

Large-diameter spiral steel pipes are mainly used in water supply projects, petrochemicals, the power industry, agricultural irrigation, urban construction, and other fields. The strength of spiral welded pipes is generally higher than that of straight welded pipes. Straight seam steel pipes are usually welded directly with steel plates, which requires larger steel plates, which means that the production difficulty increases, while the spiral pipe process is more suitable for producing larger pipe diameters.

The application range of straight seam steel pipes and spiral pipes is different, but to ensure the welding quality of products, product reliability testing is required. Most companies will choose X-RAY nondestructive testing. X-RAY nondestructive testing equipment can detect weld defects that are invisible to the naked eye.

X-RAY detection equipment uses X-rays to penetrate the inspected object for weld detection, and uses the imaging system to see whether the product has defects such as false welding and leaking welding. At present, spiral welded steel pipes use submerged arc automatic welding technology with high production efficiency. X-ray detection equipment can improve the detection efficiency of products, ensure that the detection efficiency is in step with the production efficiency, and achieve 100% detection.
